SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE.

Twenty six (26) years of professional experience in multidisciplinary industrial projects in several engineering areas, namely: thermal and hydraulic power generation; mining; water production and water treatment; wastewater and sewage treatment; roadwork and tunnel ventilating; building and industrial enclosures heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC); pumping of fluids and air compression; "piping"; fire protection systems; natural gas and fuel oil systems; reliability studies and technical-economic feasibility studies; integrated quality, environment and occupational health & safety (ISO, OSHAS) systems. He has led groups working on various projects of medium and large scale.

His experience includes twelve (12) years in university teaching and seven (7) years of research on science and technology, with publications and presentations at national and international conferences in the areas of materials science, fracture, fracture-mechanics, metallurgy, composite materials, seismology and fracture statistics.

  • Review of the conceptual engineering design of the ventilation system, fire smoke extraction, study of users escape and control logic analysis of the new road tunnel El Melón, for the company Concesionaria Túnel El Melón II, performed by Ingenova/Idiem. January-May 2017.

  • Study, review and calculations of two (2) options of thermoelectric power generation plants based on the heat of incineration of domiciliary and urban solid wastes (Waste to Energy, WTE), for "KDM Empresas". November 2016.

  • Consultancy for analysis of the operation of environmental comfort and safety systems for the "Metro de Santiago (Chile)", particularly the ventilation and air conditioning systems of the different metro lines, as well as evacuation systems, fire fighting systems, contingency plans in various emergency situations, fire safety analysis, etc. August 2016.

Journal Publications & Presentations to Congresses.

Seven (7) publications in national journals in Chile (1993-1998) and fifteen (15) publications in international journals (1991-2000). Major research publications are related to fracture in ceramics and composite materials such as cement-copper fiber, applications of statistical theory of fracture to seismology, probabilistic numerical methods for strength of materials and fracture models with statistical base. The publications include qualified journals such as "Journal of Materials Science" and "Applied Mechanics Reviews".

Nine (9) papers in national conferences in Chile and twenty (23) presentations in international conferences.

Major presentations of papers are at the international congresses PACAM, "Pan American Congress of Applied Mechanics", sponsored by the American Academy of Mechanics (AAM), for which he was a corresponding member, participating in six versions of those congresses carried out in Chile, Brazil, Argentina and Puerto Rico (USA).
